FAQ
Questions,
answered.
The things people ask before we start. If yours isn't here, ask me.
What do you actually make?
Visual identity systems. Not just a logo: the mark, the colours and type, and every place the brand has to live, like apparel, signage, vehicle wraps, packaging, menus and social templates.
See the case studies for what that looks like start to finish.
How much does a brand identity cost?
Every project gets its own quote, because a logo for a hat and a full identity for a restaurant are different jobs. Fill out the Start a Project form and you'll get a quote and scope of work within one business day.
The form lists budget ranges so you can tell me where you're at before we talk.
How long does it take?
A full identity usually takes 8 to 12 weeks from the first conversation to final files. Smaller jobs, like a single event mark or apparel for an existing brand, move faster.
If you have a hard date, like a grand opening or a season start, tell me up front and we'll plan backwards from it.
What's the difference between a logo and a brand identity?
A logo is one mark. A brand identity is the whole system around it: the main logo and its lockups, an icon or monogram, colours, type, patterns, and the rules for using them on apparel, signage, wraps, menus and social.
A logo on its own leaves you guessing every time something new needs designing. A system means the hat, the truck and the Instagram post all look like the same business. See Casa Capicola for a full system start to finish.
Will my logo work for embroidery?
It should, if it was designed with thread in mind. Fine lines, tiny text, gradients and lots of small detail are what cause trouble on a hat or a polo. They fill in, pucker or disappear.
Every logo I design gets a version built for embroidery, with thread colours picked alongside the screen and print colours. If you already have a logo that stitches badly, I can rework it so it holds up without losing what it is.
Do you print and embroider the products too?
I design everything and prepare production-ready files for your printer, embroiderer or sign shop. I've run the machines, so the files are built for the method from the start.
If you don't have a shop, I'll point you to people I trust.
Do you only work with sports teams?
No. Sport is a big part of my work, but so are restaurants, counsellors, trades, events and small businesses of every kind. Casa Capicola is a sandwich shop. Whimsy Counselling is a counselling practice for neurodivergent kids.
Do you only work with clients in Saskatchewan?
No. I'm based in Warman, just outside Saskatoon, and while some of my clients are here in Saskatchewan, I work with clients all across the world. Most of the work happens over calls and email, so distance isn't a problem.
Can you work with the logo I already have?
Yes. Some projects are a full refresh, some keep the mark and build the system around it, and some just add pieces to a brand that already works. The Start a Project form asks which one fits.
What do I get at the end?
A full logo suite, colour codes for screen, print and thread, production-ready files for every method, and brand guidelines so you, your printer and your embroiderer can use it without guessing.
That's the last step of the Hoist, my five-step process.
